It has been a long time in the making, has involved much sweat and tears, but here it is in all its glory. Well that is much of an overstatement (the glory bit), unfortunately much of the time/effort has gone into "under the hood" changes surrounding the editor that at least partially fixes some long standing issues. The highlights include a new Fax Add-on, GroupMail Remote control. In summary here are the changes in the new GroupMail release.

- Updated component for Outlook integration (4.4.0.714)
- Updated component for HTML editor, including new screens to manage tables, pictures
- Remember File Import folder from last successful import
- In some instances the "Autogenerate the text part" of the message did not work - fixed
- Added link to GroupMail Blog to the Help menu
- "Forward to group" function on GroupMail Outlook Add-in caused Outlook 2007 to crash on Microsoft Vista - fixed
- Remember last Import HTML Document folder on the message Editor
- Image for Gradient Blue template not displayed - fixed
- New HTML Source Editor, can handle larger amount of text(>64K), has find, replace and split editing
- Fixes a number of scenarios where the message editor was returning blank HTML source code
- Links to Clickatell sign up page not working - fixed
- Message Editor File->Save As->A Document the *.txt option did not work - fixed
- Message Editor Table->Merge Cells not working, removed the option, the Delete Cell and increase column span to achieve the same result

Fax Add-on |
This Add-on allows faxes to be composed in HTML or Plain text and sent using a modem or via the internet service InterFAX. The installation for the Fax Add-on is available for download via the Customer System. Login and go to Downloads, under GroupMail 5 Business Edition, expand the GroupMail 5 Supporting Items for the download link.
Once installed it is available as an Add-on on the GroupMail toolbar. The Fax Add-on uses a simple wizard to take you through the process of sending your fax message.
A few things to note
- Sending a fax takes approximately 1 minute when sending using a basic fax modem (1 telephone line)
- Multi-line modem cards can be used so that up to 8 faxes can be sent simultaneously
- To send the faxes over the internet, sign up for an account with InterFAX, pre-paid packages are available depending on the volume of messages you intend to send
- It currently only handles sending faxes

GroupMail Remote Control |
GroupMail Remote Control (GMRC) allows some functionality of the GroupMail desktop application to be used in a web browser. GMRC should be installed on a PC that already has GroupMail installed and using the same windows user account as the one used for GroupMail.
To install close all GroupMail applications (including the Delivery Console, Scheduler etc), run the gm5r_setup.exe. When the installation is complete, start the GroupMail Remote Control via Start->All Programs->GroupMail 5->GroupMail Remote Control menu (or from the DeskTop icon/Quick launch icon if the options were selected during install).
If there is another web server running on the PC on port 80, it will be necessary to specify a different port number in the "Port #" box provided to avoid a conflict. If this box is left blank port 80 will be used by the GMRC server by default. Click "Start" to start up the server.
Now open a web browser, if running this on the same machine as the GMRC server type http://localhost/ in the address bar, if running on a different PC type http://address where address is the IP address or host name of the machine running GMRC server. If the GMRC server is using a port number other than the default for example 81 use the following addresses http://localhost:81 or http://address:81
You should be prompted for a username and password, by default there is an Admin account pre-configured, login using these details
Username: admin
Password: groupmail

Message Editor (email) |
We have spent a considerable amount of time on issues related to the Message Editor in this release, one issue in particular relating to blank HTML messages that has been reported by a number of people using GroupMail. In most cases the problem seems to occur when importing HTML documents from file, and the HTML is quiet large and/or there are remote images linked in the message. The message renders correctly in the editor, but when it is saved / sent the HTML portion is empty.
We were able to solve the problem for all sample HTML documents we received from people, but were able to reproduce the problem intermittently under test conditions when there was a loss of internet connectivity.
If you experience this problem with this release, please send in the HTML Source of your message and we will investigate further.

Rich Text (HTML) Editor |

This editor can now handle larger HTML documents (previously the limit was 32/64 KB depending on the version of windows you were using). In addition Find and Replace functions have been added, right-click on the HTML to display the available options, or use Ctrl+F to start a search. Split editing and the ability to Mark lines that contain search terms have also been added.
