Linked Images |
An image that remains outside the email, with a pointer in the email linked to the external image file.
Pros:
- There is no file size associated with the URL link image in the email so sending the email is by far a lot quicker
- Images are not attached so your clients mail server will not delete it as a suspected virus email
- There is no large file size associated with your image so most mail servers will not treat it as 'Spam'
Cons:
- Some email clients may not show the images when opened. However, the email client should provide the recipient with the
option of viewing any images or links contained in the email.

Embedded Images |
An image that is stored inside the email with no reference to any external file.
If you insert an image into an email in the normal way using Insert/Picture/From file..., the result will be an embedded image.
If you copy and paste an image into an email, the result will be an embedded image.
Pros:
- It is quicker to embed an image in your email because the image is stored locally in your hard drive
Cons:
- Images can be bigger in size so it may take longer to send them
- If you have a lot of images in your email which you are sending to your client then their mail server may block the email as
'Spam' or it may think that the attached images are viruses and then delete the email immediately
